Comments: Happy Birthday, Argy. Since you're a thirty-something I don't understand this 50th business. A mere slip of a girl such as yourself can't even count to fifty let alone be fifty. And someone with your energy and enthusiasm scares those of us for whom fifty is a distant memory (if we still have memories). Speaking of which, thanks for all those you've left with me. I look fondly on those days when DRG began its first steps towards middle school and the long list of projects that made the daily trek to school a joy and not a chore. When I watch you work I am happy for you that the joy is such a big part of your life.

Comments: Well, Argy, you'll soon find that one of the first things to go is your memory! I meant to do this weeks ago and here I am just doing so . . . at least it isn't terribly belated. Being 50 isn't so bad . . . right, who am I trying to kid?? But I'm sure you'll do this as beautifully as you have the last 49. You have always given so much of yourself . . . hope you're being treated like a queen today. We are all so lucky to have you in our lives. Congratulations and here's wishing you many, many more. Love, Denise

Comments: Happy 50th birthday, Argy. While we missed you at last week's Middle Level Education Institute at the University of Maine, we understand the necessity of preparing for this big day! I'm sure you will have a terrific day surrounded by family and friends—and Connie and I want you to know that we are thinking of you. The pictures on this site of you, Don, and the boys are terrific and gave us an insight into your earlier life. We want to see more. Have a wonderful 50th birthday—all the best on your big day. You have so many special people in your life who are dear friends, yet you always have time to nurture each and every friendship and to make each of us feel so special to you. Well, YOU are special to me and always have been and it is with love and admiration and respect that I wish you the happiest birthday imaginable and to tell you from the heart that I consider you one very extraordinary mother/artist/educator/communicator/go-getter/"yes,I-will-do-it"lady! Comments: Well, well, well. If my little sister is fifty, then how old am I? There have been many moments that I have been afraid for you. Billy and I never seemed to bring around to the house the kind of man we could approve for you. You didn't seem to mind. Luckily, you paid them little attention and you went out and grabbed yourself the "mountain man." What a GREAT choice you made. When it was time for you to LEAVE your house and family, another great choice and you moved to Maine. A perfect place for you to grow, mature, be yourself and blossom. You made a great teacher of yourself. You achieved Teacher of the year ... went to space camp .... had your picture taken with the president. You topped that with your cross-country road trip, visiting other teachers of the year and their classes. You not only shared this with Donald and the boys, but you maintained contact with all of us who couldn't go with you. The Orient - another great adventure and again you shared it daily with all of us. "You have done well Pilgrim." Not only on the road have you faired well. You have set the example as a person, a friend, a wife and a mother to all that meet and get to know you. As a brother, I have not always been the best for you. Our relationship may not be the closest. You have kindly let me know when I disappointed you, but you never forgot or shunned me. Honestly, I have been very proud of you many times over. More times then I ever told you. I never hesitate to tell people I meet of the greatest littlest sister that I, or anyone, could have. Congratulations on this your day. May it be full of great thoughts, greater memories, greatest feelings and may all the joys you've given to others be yours. May it truly be the FIRST day of the rest of your life. May their be an abundance of first days. "WATCH YOUR TOP-KNOT PILGRIM" (another line from Jeremiah Johnson). All of my love, today and for ever. Happy Birthday ...... pete

Lindsay, Donna and Pete joined us. What a wonderful day it was. The only thing that spoiled it for mother is her case of poison ivy that she got when she pu;;ed your flowers (from Maine) to give away to her neighbor. Lookin forward to your visit. We can't wait. Again, Happy Birthday..... Love,

You are a true inspiration to us all (children and adults alike). I read a quote the other day that said "everyone is a blessing to someone", and I think of you as a blessing to many. Comments: Argy, 50 years young; my partner and friend for 25 years. You have made every minute an adventure! (Even if 15 of them means another project on the list) We have so much to be thankful for every day. Our lives have been more fun, exciting and amazing than I could have imagined all those years ago and I am certain that it will be even better in the next 50 years. Love

Comments: Argera Nestor - Ms. MULTI-TASKER EXTRAORDINAIRE - let's face it, I could never put into words what your friendship means to me. You always know the right things to say and to do and seem to be there ALL THE TIME! The older you get, the better you look - how is that possible? Throughout the years, we have had many laughs and tears as well, however, you always maintain a positive attitude and have the uncanny ability to make me feel so much better. I am blessed to have seen Noah and Nicholas grow into fine young men and to share in the warm family times. Don is incredible - what a team you guys are. Happy 50th - hopefully you won't have discovered all the secrets!!! Lots of love, my friend, Sally

Comments: Don said that this should be spontaneous, but I have had to think about this to communicate how MUCH your friendship has meant to me over the last 20ish years. And I still don't have the right words. But I know that it is absolutely the BEST to work with my best friend. I know we can ALWAYS find something to laugh about. I know it's uncanny that we can look at each other and know what the other is thinking. I know we can disagree and still love each other. I know other people get worried when we get one of our ideas. I know I have grown as a person and educator by knowing you, even though sometimes I haven't wanted to. I know I have loved being a "Ski Mom" to your boys. I know that you will always be older than me. And I know that I wish you the very happiest of birthdays. X X X O O O

Comments: Argy, The best of wishes for you on your day, July 5, that marks the 50th anniversary of your birth. While growing up, you were always the baby of the family that we loved, cherished and protected. You have been a source of great pride for me over the years that has been manifested through wonderful experiences, terrific relationships, development of a fabulous family, as well as professional and personal accomplishments. Through all of the ups and downs you have matured while, at the same time, maintaining an envious and admirable attitude of youthful innocence. My wishes for you are echoed in the words of a favorite poet of my time- "May God bless and keep you always. May your all dreams come true. May you always do for others and let others do for you. May you build a ladder to the sky and climb on every rung. May you stay forever young." All My Love, Your Brother Bill

But by far the best was your meeting my principal way back when! :) Have a fabulous day July 5! Love ya, Billie

Comments: Dear Argy, I would like to say how much I enjoy working with you. Your energy and enthusiasm for the ART of teaching is truly remarkable as well as contagious! The quality of the work you do in and out of the classroom is deserving of the highest praise. I have often wondered what school would be like without these efforts--the experiences those "15 minute grants" bring to our students each year are immeasurable. Audrey said, "50, no way, she acts way too young. I guess that about says it all. Love, Beth, Ashley, and Audrey

All of us in the SEED garden wish you a wonderful day and a glorious year in which you harvest all the joy, wonder and richness you have sown in the lives of others. Like mine, for example! You both were wonderful then and have continued to be not only a good sister-in-law but someone I would have choosen for a friend. Over the past few years the meaning of "life" and living has been foremost and center to our family.
